The image of God as Shepherd runs through the Old Testament like a quiet river. Psalm 23 sings of green pastures and still waters; Isaiah and Ezekiel speak of a Shepherd who searches for the lost and binds up the wounded. In Jesus, that long-held promise takes flesh: “I am the Good Shepherd.”

To call Him Shepherd is to confess that we are not the source of our own life. We are gathered, fed, guided, and brought home — not by our own merit, but by the One who lays down His life for the sheep. The shape of Christian discipleship is, simply, learning again how to be led.
